Gulf Coast Premier League announces Fall Tournament Showcase

New Orleans (October 14th) — The Gulf Coast Premier League announces the 2020 Fall Tournament Showcase that is set to kick off on October 18th. The tournament will offer a platform for top youth prospects looking to play at the next level, along with coordinating with local college programs to scout and communicate with players.

“We’ve been wanting to get back to playing in the fall for some time now.” said league President, Jeremy Poklemba “We feel this is a perfect time to extend our service on a year round basis and get a chance to put some of our up coming youth players in front of college coaches.”

The clubs that will be participating in this year’s fall competition will be:

  • Alexandria PBFC (Alexandria, LA)
  • Crescent City FC (New Orleans, LA)
  • 14th Ward FC (New Orleans, LA)
  • Louisiana Krewe (Lafayette, LA)
  • Mobile United (Mobile, AL)

The competition is set to start on the weekend of October 18th and will be a full table double round robin and will end on December 13th. The club sitting at the top of the table with the most points will be crowned tournament champions.

“We are hungry to get back out on the field.” said Louisiana Krewe Head Coach, Joan Oliva “Being able to include some top youth players from our academy, and put them on the field at this level, in front of college coaches, will be very beneficial for them and our developmental model.”

College coaches from around the area have expressed their excitement and interest in the format of the showcase.

“This will give our program a great chance to see some local prospects playing in a more competitive environment.” mentioned Willam Carey Head Coach, Barry Farrel.

“Being a young program, this format allows us to see how these players respond to a level of play similar to ours.” said LSU Eunice Head Coach, Josh McReynolds.

“The Gulf Coast Premier League (GCPL) serves as the leader in amateur soccer along the gulf coast region of the United States, offering a pathway for players pursuing their competitive careers further and assisting our member clubs to organically grow in their communities. The GCPL is sanctioned by the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA); a member of the United States Soccer Federation (USSF).

The GCPL is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization organized and operated with the ultimate goal of growing soccer and soccer culture in the gulf coast.”
