GCPL Affiliates With USASA As A Multi-State League

The Gulf Coast Premier League (GCPL) has joined the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) as a direct affiliate under the USASA Multi-State league sanctioning. For 2019, the league will be under provisional sanctioning until the affiliation is made official at the USASA AGM in Palm Springs, CA this September.

“Directly affiliating with USASA has been on the league’s agenda since last season and getting this done before the 2019 season kicks off will allow us to focus on league play and the clubs that we have,” said GCPL President, Jeremy Poklemba. “This sanctioning will allow the league to continue its growth and expand its mission.”

“We’re happy to have the GCPL directly affiliate with us as a Mult-State league” said USASA Executive Director, Duncan Riddle. “The Multi-State league sanctioning was created for the purpose of leagues like the GCPL. We’re hoping this partnership continues to allow them to strengthen the growth of the game in their region.”

Since it’s inception, the GCPL has been sanctioned with USASA by way of the Louisiana Soccer Association. Stemming from the Louisiana Premier League, which began in 2014 and sanctioned by the LSA, the GCPL was formed in 2016 as it’s own entity and has steadily expanded to all of the gulf states.

“The partnership with LSA allowed us to build the foundation of the league,” said league Vice President, Jonathan Rednour. “We were lucky to have a state association willing to work with us. With the current growth expanding to multiple states and time zones, it was time to directly affiliate with USASA.”

The GCPL announced earlier in 2019 the launch of the Great Plains Premier League, with ambitions to start in 2020.

“The addition of the Great Plains conference has opened up the discussion to clubs nationally who are interested to learning more about Gulf Coast’s model and mission,” said Rednour. “Being directly affiliated with USASA offers us the freedom to work with these clubs and gain an understanding of the expectations and needs they have.  Ultimately, that will enable us to grow properly and in a sustainable way.”
